The next project underway, all Ash from Whitney-on-Wye. This is from a plank which I sustainably sourced in between the dreaded lockdowns and an absolutely gorgeous piece of wood in looks and tone.
Quater Sawn Ash fretboard all planned, slotted and cut to size by myself.
It has a 25.5" scale length and will be fitted with 24 jumbo stainless steel frets and abalone dot inlays.
So the truss rod turned up today! Thought I'd make the most of my Saturday off. Cut, routed, rough sanding to shape and all glued up, happy days.
So, goodies arrived so far!
Hipshot chrome plated brass string through bridge, Hipshot griplock tuners, 24 stainless Steel frets, EMG SA neck pickup, Abalone dot inlays on the fretboard and side and a bone nut.
It surprising what you can do in weeks worth of spare time!
All major routing done, neck carved, radius sanded in and frets installed.
Bookmatched top cut, joined and glued on.
Watch this space.
Been a busy week or so with my day job! Here we are at 01/11/23, the body is all glazed and stained. Not bad for about three weeks worth of spare time and weekends.
